Dear Public Storage Management,
I am contacting you regarding the unexpected change in access hours at the facility.
I moved into this location approximately two months ago and currently rent three large storage units, including a 10x35 unit. When I moved in, the facility offered 24/7 access, and that was one of the main reasons I chose this location and agreed to pay the current rental rates.
I also operate a business and keep products in my storage units. Because I work during the daytime, I sometimes need to pick up products at night. Having 24/7 access is not simply a convenience for me—it is important for operating my business.
I was not informed before signing up that Public Storage would be taking over the facility or that the 24/7 access would be changed to a 10:00 PM closing time. This change came unexpectedly, after I had already moved all of my belongings and business products into three units.
I am paying a significant amount for these units, and I agreed to those rates based on the services and access that were offered when I moved in. I paid for a facility with 24/7 access, not one that closes at 10:00 PM.
Because of this significant change, I am requesting reasonable compensation. If Public Storage can reduce my monthly rates to reflect the reduced access, I am willing to consider staying. If you cannot provide an appropriate rate reduction, I am requesting one month of free rent so that I have sufficient time to find another facility offering 24/7 access and relocate the contents of all three units without additional financial burden.
I believe this is a fair and reasonable request considering that this change was outside of my control and occurred only about two months after I moved in.
I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter. Please let me know what compensation or rate adjustment Public Storage can offer.
